It’s one of the most popular smart assistants around the world, but if you use a device installed with Amazon Alexa, a new report may ring alarm bells for you. Researchers from Check Point Research have warned about security flaws in certain Amazon and Alexa subdomains, that could let hackers access your personal details.
The research revealed several vulnerabilities that could be exploited by a hacker crafting and sending a malicious link to the target user. If the user clicks the link the attacker could carry out a number of terrifying attacks.
Firstly, they could access the victim’s personal information, including their banking data history, usernames, phone numbers and home address.
They could also extract and listen to the user’s voice history, silently installs skills on the account, view the entire skill list, or silently remove an installed skill to stop it working. Thankfully, Amazon has now fixed the issue after it was disclosed by Check Point, and it doesn’t appear that any users were affected.
